Figgy’s is a tiny, family‑run artisan pudding maker crafting luxury Christmas puddings entirely by hand in their Devon bakery. Run by husband‑and‑wife team Jo and Richie Evans, the business has grown over nearly 20 years from a home‑kitchen project into one of the most celebrated Christmas pudding producers in the UK.
Using an old family recipe, Figgy’s puddings are made the traditional way—not mass‑produced, not mechanised, and never rushed. Their small‑batch approach captures the nostalgic flavour, texture and richness of a true homemade Christmas pudding. In 2025, Figgy’s pudding was crowned Grand Champion in the Great British Food Awards, adding to their extraordinary collection of 30+ fine food awards.
Handmade with Premium Westcountry Ingredients
Every Figgy’s Christmas pudding is crafted using carefully chosen, high‑quality ingredients sourced locally wherever possible. These include: Somerset Cider Brandy, Hanlons Port Stout (Devon), Free‑range eggs from a nearby farm, In‑house breadcrumbs made with artisan bakery bread, French glacé cherries coloured only with fruit juices, British apples & carrots for moisture, California raisins for natural sweetness. Each pudding is slow‑steamed for many hours, then matured for months to develop a light, open texture and deep, balanced flavour without the heaviness associated with mass‑produced alternatives.
Traditional Presentation – Ceramic Bowls & Cloth Wraps
Figgy’s is one of the few remaining UK producers still offering puddings in traditional Mason Cash ceramic bowls, topped with a natural cotton wrap tied in the classic rabbit‑ears knot—evoking the look and feel of homemade puddings from generations past. For convenience, they also produce a fully recyclable boxed version suitable for microwaving, featuring festive artwork by a Devon illustrator.
