Huxbear Vineyard is a family‑run, fully off‑grid wine estate set in the rolling hills of the Teign Valley near Chudleigh, producing award‑winning still and sparkling wines from Devon‑grown grapes. Planted by Ben and Lucy Hulland in 2007, the vineyard has grown to more than 15 acres, with 16,500 vines across two sun‑kissed south and south‑west facing fields.
Built on a philosophy of low‑intervention, sustainable winemaking, Huxbear runs almost entirely on solar power, harvesting rainwater, repurposing equipment, and avoiding energy‑intensive winery processes to minimise environmental impact. Their regenerative approach includes integrated pest management and vegan‑friendly production across the full range of wines.
Huxbear produces an impressive portfolio of still, sparkling, rosé, red and even orange wines, working with classic cool‑climate varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Bacchus, Schönberger and Siegerrebe. Their sparkling wines in particular have gained regional acclaim—most notably the Huxbear Blanc de Blancs 2021, crowned Wine of the Year 2025 at the Food Drink Devon Awards.
With winemaking carried out entirely on-site, the estate offers visitors a genuine “grape‑to‑glass” experience. While the vineyard is temporarily closed for general visits, pre‑booked tours resume from April 2026, including 90‑minute guided walks (or non‑walking tours), free tastings and exclusive discounts.
