Award‑Winning English Wines, Fruit Wines & Artisan Spirits from East Devon
Lyme Bay Winery is one of the South West’s most respected and innovative drinks producers, based in Shute, East Devon, on the edge of the Jurassic Coast. Established as a pioneer of English fruit wines, the winery has grown into a multi‑award‑winning producer of English still and sparkling wines, fruit wines, meads and artisan spirits, combining traditional methods with modern winemaking expertise.

Pioneers of Premium English Fruit Wine
Founded in 1989, Lyme Bay Winery began with a focus on traditional country fruit wines, made using British fruits such as elderberry, blackberry and strawberry. At a time when fruit wine was often overlooked, Lyme Bay helped redefine the category, elevating it into a serious, quality‑driven product.
Today, the winery remains one of the UK’s leading producers of premium fruit wines, while also embracing grape wine production and distillation.

From Fruit to Grape – A Diverse Drinks Portfolio
Lyme Bay Winery now produces an extensive and varied range, including:
  • English still and sparkling wines, in collaboration with vineyards across the South West and beyond
  • Fruit wines, using British-grown fruits and time‑honoured recipes
  • Meads, crafted with care and balance
  • Artisan spirits, including gin, whisky and liqueurs
Rather than relying solely on estate vineyards, Lyme Bay works closely with growers, winemakers and distillers, allowing it to focus on blending, maturation and flavour development.

Internationally Recognised & Award‑Winning
Lyme Bay Winery has earned hundreds of awards across major national and international competitions, and is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most decorated drinks producers. Its English wines regularly achieve Gold medals at competitions such as the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), Decanter and the International Wine Challenge.
This consistent recognition has helped cement English wine — and Devon’s role within it — on the global stage.

Innovation Rooted in Tradition
While rooted in traditional winemaking, Lyme Bay Winery is known for its innovative approach. The team experiments with fermentation styles, oak ageing, and collaborative projects, constantly pushing the boundaries of what English producers can achieve.
This balance between heritage and creativity has made the winery particularly appealing to modern consumers seeking distinctive, high‑quality drinks with a strong sense of place.

Deep Devon Roots
Located in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the winery draws inspiration from its rural Devon surroundings. The influence of the Jurassic Coast is woven into the brand’s identity, from label design to storytelling. Despite exporting internationally, Lyme Bay Winery remains proudly Devon‑based, employing local people and supporting the region’s food and drink economy.

Visitor Experiences, Tastings & Shop
Lyme Bay Winery welcomes visitors to its cellar door shop, offering tastings, tours and direct purchases. This direct connection allows customers to explore the full range, learn about production methods and better understand the story behind English wine and fruit wine alike.
