What is Rull Orchard?

Rull Orchard is a small artisan cidery and orchard based in Bickleigh, Mid Devon, producing award-winning cider, perry, juices and honey using fruit grown on its own sustainably managed orchard. Founded by Mike Shorland and Claire Daniels in 2017, the business combines traditional orchard skills with permaculture, rewilding and biodiversity-led practices to create drinks that reflect both place and season.

Why choose Rull Orchard?

Rull Orchard stands out for its commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and low-intervention cider making. The orchard is managed without pesticides or insecticides and actively supports wildlife through wildflower planting, rewilding, pollinator habitats and on-site beehives.
Every cider is made using traditional techniques enhanced by modern understanding of fermentation and flavour. Fermentations are typically wild and natural, relying on the orchard's own yeasts and allowing the fruit to express its true character. Releases are carefully matured and produced in limited quantities.
The orchard's founder, Mike Shorland, is also one of the UK's first qualified pomeliers, bringing specialist expertise in cider appreciation, blending and food pairing.
