The Devon Fudge Company is a family‑run artisan confectionery producer, based in Devon at the foothills of Dartmoor, specialising in luxuriously smooth, handmade clotted cream fudge. Every batch is cooked to order using a secret traditional recipe dating back to 1930, making the company one of the most established and respected fudge producers in the county.
A Heritage Recipe with a Personal Story
The company’s origins stretch back nearly a century, when the original recipe was developed well before the Second World War. Passed down through generations, the business continued to grow in popularity throughout the mid‑20th century, with today’s owner, Peter Baldwin, becoming involved in the family fudge‑making business from an early age.
After stepping away for a period, Peter re‑established The Devon Fudge Company to revive what he felt was missing from the region: proper, traditionally cooked, creamy West Country fudge. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength, gaining a loyal following across Devon and beyond.
Traditional Methods, Small‑Batch Production
All fudge is made using traditional copper kettles, with each batch taking around an hour to cook. The fudge is:
- Hand‑stirred continuously with large wooden paddles
- Carefully temperature‑controlled and cooled for the perfect creamy texture
- Cut and packed by hand, ensuring quality at every stage
Only top‑quality natural ingredients are used, including local butter and Devon clotted cream, giving the fudge its distinctive richness and depth of flavour.
