The Heavi Deli is an award‑winning independent deli and café located on Fore Street in Heavitree, Exeter, offering a carefully curated selection of exceptional, ethical and sustainable foods from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. Opened in December 2024 by long‑standing local residents Owen and Kate Wilder, the deli was created to bring high‑quality local produce back to Heavitree High Street — a place the couple have called home for more than 17 years.

The shop features a bright, modern interior showcasing shelves of artisan cheeses, charcuterie, preserves, biscuits, handmade chocolates, wines, beers, ciders, cocktails and premium coffee. Much of the produce is sourced from regional independent makers, many of whom are also Food Drink Devon members.

In January 2025, the deli expanded into coffee service, complementing its growing menu of pastries, brioche rolls, handmade pies and seasonal treats. The Heavi Deli quickly became a beloved community hub, praised for its warm hospitality, exceptional coffee and relaxed atmosphere.

In 2025, The Heavi Deli proudly won both Gold and Best Retailer of the Year at the Food Drink Devon Awards — a testament to its quality, ethos and outstanding support from the local community.

Alongside daily deli service, the business hosts community events such as rum tastings with local makers, charity fundraisers and seasonal celebrations, strengthening its reputation as a vibrant part of the Heavitree neighbourhood.
